Books Needed for Hurricane Florence victims

Hurricane Florence struck eastern North Carolina on September 14, 2018, and due to the devastation, North Carolina families need your help!

The East Carolina Council has asked Scouts, parents, and leaders from our Council to help them collect books for grades 6-8 to help replace the thousands of books that were lost by forty-six schools in eastern North Carolina because of Hurricane Florence.

Scouts can help restore school libraries, so children can read and take their minds off the destruction around them.

They have asked the Westark Area Council to collect 2,700 books for students in the 6th – 8th grades.

They are looking for books that are:

Age appropriate

Grade specific (6th – 8th Grades)

No baby or toddler books.

Hard back or Paper back

Biographies / Autobiographies

Fiction

History

Mystery

Non-fiction

Science

If you can help, please bring collected items to either Council Service Center by December 8, 2018.

A donated truck will take the items to North Carolina where local East Carolina Council Scouts will help distribute to those in need.
