Family FOS "Pacesetter Unit" Sign Up Deadline

Schedule Your Unit's Family Friends of Scouting Presentation by December 14, 2018

Every year, each unit is asked to support the Scouting program by holding a Family Friends of Scouting (FOS) Presentation at a Troop Court of Honor or Blue and Gold Banquet.

By scheduling your FOS presentation date by December 14, 2018 and by holding your presentation before March 31, 2019, your unit will receive FREE rank advancement for a year.

Unit Family Friends of Scouting Presentations provide Scouting families the opportunity to donate to Scouting to make sure that every Scout Pack, Troop, and Crew has the resources that are required to operate.

The Westark Area Council serves over 5700 youth and 2300 adults in 17 counties and is the backbone of Scouting in our area and provides many resources to Scouting families.

  • It provides the training that helps our leaders deliver a fun, impactful, and safe program.
  • It provides camping facilities for us to use at Camp Orr, Rogers Scout Reservation and Camp Spencer. If you haven’t experienced these yet, you’ll be blown away by these facilities.
  • It provides two Scout Service Centers with full service retail shops, the Hembree Scout Service Center in Fort Smith and the Shewmaker Center for Scouting in Springdale, to help meets the needs of families and Scouting units.
  • It provides insurance to help with care in the case that one of our guys gets a sprained ankle.
  • It insures that every youth can participate in Scouting no matter what their family circumstances are.
  • Volunteers and parents can call the Westark Area Council at any time for help and guidance to help provide Scouts the fantastic program that was promised to all families when they joined.

That $33 that you pay to the Boy Scouts of America each year goes directly to the national office to fund program development. So that leaves it up to caring community members and Scouting families to provide the funds needed to make our program run here in our neighborhoods.

The cost to support one child in the program for one year is $250.00. The Westark Area Council asks that each family consider making a gift of at least $100.00.  Those families making a contribution of $150.00 will receive a limited-edition council patch with a bronze border.  Families that make a gift of $300.00 or more will receive a patch with a silver border and families that make a gift of $500.00 or more will receive a patch with a silver border.

New this year, we are starting a Good Scout Club.  To join, support Scouting with at least a $10 monthly recurring credit/debit card payment.   Monthly giving is convenient and provides a steady stream of support.  Good Scout Club members will receive a Good Scout Patch and Lapel Pin.
